Water Intervention Program

Access to clean and reliable water remains one of the greatest challenges in arid and semi-arid regions of Kenya. To address this, First Bridge Foundation has launched the Water Intervention Program, a flagship initiative aimed at drilling boreholes, installing water harvesting systems, and establishing community water points.

Our goal is to ensure that vulnerable households, schools, and farmers can access safe water for domestic use, livestock, and agricultural production. Beyond immediate relief, this program contributes to long-term resilience by reducing the risks of waterborne diseases, improving crop yields, and enhancing food security.

Through collaboration with government agencies, FAO, GIZ, and local partners, the Foundation continues to mobilize resources and deliver water solutions that restore dignity and hope in drought-affected communities.

Our Benefits

  • Safe Drinking Water: Families gain access to reliable, clean water sources, reducing dependence on unsafe streams and ponds.

  • Agricultural Support: Water for irrigation strengthens food production and reduces crop failure during dry seasons.

  • Health & Hygiene: Reliable water improves sanitation, lowers the risk of disease, and promotes healthier households.

  • Resilience: Communities are better prepared to withstand drought and climate shocks through sustainable water systems.

How does the Water Intervention Program operate?

The program employs a combination of borehole drilling, rainwater harvesting, and rehabilitation of community water systems to ensure reliable supply for households and farmers.

Does the program provide long-term solutions?

Yes. Beyond immediate relief, the initiative emphasizes sustainability by promoting efficient water use and training communities in water management practices.

Who benefits from this program?

The primary beneficiaries are households in drought-prone and semi-arid areas, including smallholder farmers, pastoralists, and vulnerable families without reliable access to water.

How can I support this initiative?

You can contribute by donating resources, partnering with the Foundation, or volunteering your expertise to expand water accessibility and management across target communities.
