Livestock Health Support Project

To strengthen resilience among vulnerable households, First Bridge Foundation, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Government of Kenya, has been supporting livestock farmers through vaccination and deworming programs.

In rural communities where livestock is a key source of food and income, diseases and poor animal health often limit productivity. This initiative ensures that farmers have access to:

• Regular vaccination and deworming to reduce livestock losses

• Training on animal health management and proper husbandry practices

• Improved nutrition and income through healthier, more productive animals

Farmers in the project areas, such as Migori and Homa Bay counties, are already seeing improvements — with healthier goats and cattle translating into better milk production, household nutrition, and income security.

This intervention is part of the broader drought mitigation and resilience program, designed to protect livelihoods and ensure food security for vulnerable communities.
